Live digital master plan of Iisalmi
What tangible problem is the project trying to solve?
The City of Iisalmi has commenced the drafting of the local master plan based on location data at the beginning of 2017. The objective of the project is to use grid data from the Monitoring System of Spatial Structure (YKR) and the LIITERI data service in addition to the location data owned by the city. The regional plan scheme will live on the location data platform as it will be drafted and interpreted based on the changing location data on a timeline that covers the whole city and location data analyses carried out based on them. A requirement for this is a functional interface to the grid data of the Monitoring System of Spatial Structure (YKR) and the LIITERI data service.
What is the objective of the experiment?
The benefit of the project is that the City of Iisalmi will pilot how data systems can be used in drafting a local master plan in digital format and in its live interpretation, as well as in identifying what the areas of improvement and bottlenecks are in interfaces to combine the functionalities of different data systems. In the course of creating a model for interpretation, we will obtain more information on what data is needed and the required means of retrieving it to the location data system of the city using an interface.
What tangible measures will the experiment involve?
A digital master plan will be drafted as a proposed plan that includes the draft as a part of the Trimble Locus database.
In the case of a YKR grid cell, we will test the possibilities of “live” interpretation of the regional plan depending on the changes in the vitality, population development and forecasts within the area of the grid cell/city.
An external critical analysis will be carried out on the digitalisation of the local master plan of Iisalmi and the functionality of the relevant location data analyses and of the proposed location data system of the City of Iisalmi (browser based TRIMBLE LOCUS system in 2019) as a part of the further use of the proposed regional plan in the future.
The development of the digital usability of the regional plan in other planning processes of the city, such as in service network planning, school transport services, etc.
What are the expected results of the experiment?
A functioning location data platform as a basis for drafting and interpreting, with functioning interfaces to the materials of the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE within the database of the city to support analyses.
Who benefits from the results of the experiment?
A large group of developers of digital master plans in operational environments similar to Iisalmi will benefit from the results.
