Internet of Locks
Lukoton Experience Oy experiments with building an IoT for locks that enables the use of virtual keys even in objects without electricity.
What kind of problem is the project trying to solve?
Access control is one of the bottle necks in developing new business models in the real estate sector. Many facilities are underutilised because it is difficult to equip them with safe and easy-to-use access control systems.
Objective: A wireless locking system to cover the whole city
In this project, we will test the use of virtual keys in facilities without a traditional network connection. The objective is to create a light and affordable wireless access system for retrofitting that covers the whole city using IoT technology.
What is done in this project?
In the experiment, we will test and assess the usability of a low-power LoRaWan data transmission network in setting PIN codes to offline code devices. The LoRaWan network technology will be integrated into wireless, battery-operated, retrofitted LoRa lock modules provided by Lukoton Oy. The service life of the modules is several years. In addition, we will assess the feasibility of the system in real-life facility rental business applications.
What are the expected results of the experiment?
We hope that the project will verify the feasibility of using a locking device that costs less than €100 in peer-to-peer rental facilities.
Who benefits?
Peer-to-peer rental activity.
