Asuntola.com meets special housing needs
Asuntola.com is a service that fills a gap in housing markets. The service finds solutions to temporary, irregular or otherwise non-standard accommodation needs.
What kind of problem is the project trying to solve?
These days, finding an apartment is difficult particularly for young people, those working in low-income sectors or in need of short-term accommodation. The prices of rental housing have soared and are not feasible to many, whereas suitable owner-occupied homes are not available. The housing problems are particularly prominent in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
This objective of this experimental project is to develop a web service for communal living, Asuntola.com. It is an easy-to-use website tailored to the conditions and needs in Finland, where the applicants and providers of accommodation can easily find each other. Various kinds of housing options are available in the service, allowing the applicant to compare them according to their own needs.
Objective: Accommodation to meet different needs – easily
Asuntola.com takes into account life situations that the property market cannot always serve. In other words, a person in need of an apartment or accommodation can find housing to meet a short-term, irregular or otherwise atypical need on the site. The mission of the service is to help young people, students and special groups to find an apartment or accommodation and to lower the threshold of finding accommodation.
What is done in this project?
In the experiment, we will build a user friendly online platform for the communal rental of apartments and accommodation and a sharing economy that focuses on special housing needs.
Who benefits?
The results benefit people and actors who are looking for or offer accommodation that meets temporary or special housing needs.
